The Lorenzo Patino Council has been involved in many efforts to
provide assistance and raise awareness on issues affecting our
community. Many of these issues are the same issues that affect the
quality of life of everyone in Sacramento and often have a statewide
impact.
Often we work with other Latino groups on issues surrounding
education, labor, health and employment. We also work with other
organization in Sacramento and surrounding area to provide food and
clothing to those in need - always reaching out to the local farm
worker communities. We periodically meet with California Department
Director's addressing concerns on public service needs to our
community. We join with the Labor Council for Latin American
Advancement (LCLLA) in the Cesar Chavez March. We send letters of
support or in opposition to legislation impacting our community and
provide testimony at legislative hearings. We provide testimony before
the State Personnel Board on discrimination issues in State
government. We also address issues at Sacramento City Council. "The
Council has been working with West Sacramento LULAC and La Raza
Network to defeat West Sacramento's Gang Injunction".
